## Installation methods for Windows

Sanas supports the following methods for installing the Sanas app on Windows:

## Before we start:

- Ensure you have access to the [Sanas Portal (opens in new tab)](https://portal2.sanas.ai/) to download the application.
- You will need the necessary permissions to deploy the app to connected computers.
- Ensure your Windows computer already has the **Visual C++ Redistributable**. If it’s not present, you can download the suitable package from [Microsoft (opens in new tab)](https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170#latest-supported-redistributable-version).

## Method 1: Running app Installer

**Note**: You need not to update the Installer ID while Installing the Sanas app version 4.1.X and above during installation. If required, [update the Installer ID](https://help.sanas.ai/v1/docs/windows-install-sanas-noise-cancellation#optional-update-installer-id) to enable auto-activation.

```
4. Wait until the installation process completes. Once completed, the Sanas app will be automatically launched.
### (Optional) Update Installer ID
Follow the instructions below to update the Installer ID on the already installed Sanas app. Updating the Installer ID parameter is essential to use the [auto-activation mode](https://help.sanas.ai/v1/docs/configure-app-authentication-mode).
**What is an Installer ID, and why is it needed?**
An Installer ID is a unique workspace identifier that helps Sanas to identify the Workspace and pre-configure the Sanas application before the user starts using it. Updating the Installer ID becomes essential when you wish to set up the credential-less app activation mode called [_Auto activation_](https://help.sanas.ai/v1/docs/sanas-auto-activation-document-updated) for users.
To get your Installer ID:
1. Navigate to the [Download app (opens in new tab)](https://portal2.sanas.ai/download-app) page on the Sanas Portal, and ensure you’ve selected your desired Workspace.
2. Copy the **Installer ID** and save it securely.
#### Updating the Installer ID for the already installed Sanas app
1. Launch the Windows CLI as administrator on your computer.
2. Run the command below to update the Installer ID:
```powershell
reg add "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Sanas.ai\Sanas" /v InstallerId /t REG_SZ /d "<Installer Id>" /f
```
3. Verify the update by navigating to the installation registry (`HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/Sanas.ai/Sanas`), and ensure the value of the Installer ID parameter is present.
4. Close the current Sanas app session if already running, and re-launch it. The app should activate now with Auto-activation.
